Birch (sweet) bark

The essential oil of Sweet Birch, betula lenta, also Black Birch or Cherry Birch, is steam distilled which has an aroma resembling Wintergreen. In aromatherapy it has tonic, disinfectant, stimulant, antidepressant, analgesic, detoxifying, antirheumatic, antiarthritic, diuretic, antiseptic, astringent, febrifuge, germicide, insecticide, and depurative properties. Phew! What a mouthful.
