Scents are subtle yet very powerful memory triggers. Perhaps that explains why people react differently to the same scent or why we prefer one over another. In that regard, a perfume is a very personal artefact – we choose perfumes that not only speak to us but also tell others about ourselves. Therefore, a perfume is an olfactory signature, if you will, and there's nothing more intimate and challenging than to create a signature perfume for someone.
I love to draw inspiration from the people I know or meet: their mannerisms, character, even the way the person speaks, often trigger images, colours or memories in my head which I find surprisingly similar to the way we perceive scents. When I am thus inspired, I would suddenly have the urge to create a perfume for that particular person to convey my impression of his or her personality.
That was how AromaPersonality came about.
Besides Sarah, there are many others before and after who I’ll try to mention here as long as I’m writing this blog. To all those wonderful people who have inspired me, I would like to say
